The Covino family of five brothers and a sister migrated to Lillydale, Victoria in 1955 from Naples, Italy. After establishing a successful fresh produce company that still operates today in Longford Sale, Victoria, Alfonso and wife Carmelina, seeking a warmer climate, moved to the Gold Coast in 1978.
It was in 1984 when Alfonzo Carmelina, their two sons George and Tony, and daughter Jenny all helped in the family business from an early age, and ever since then locals and regular patrons lined up for famous homemade pasta sauces and parmigianas. The family have opened restaurants in Broadbeach, with Romanas entrusted to the capable hands of Jenny and husband Robert for the last twelve years. Young son Gerry can also be seen helping out, truly making it a family event, and still to this day serving some of the best pasta, pizza and parmigianas on the Coast.
